7th Generation

The 7th generation are the consoles available now there are many of them ps3,xbox360,wii,psp,ds,xbox and ps2 the main competators in this are the ps3 xbox360 wii psp and ds with each millions of sales the wii is infront by far though.

Xbox 360:gears of war1/2,halo 3, ninja gaiden 2,lost odysey

Wii: super mario galaxy,wii fit,wii sports,super smash bros brawl

psp: gta liberty city stories,god of war chains of olympus,sexcret agent clank

DS: profeser layton,pokemon,mario,drawn to life

Ps2: god of war,shadow of colossus,ico,devil may cry,gta,singstar and ALOT more

Xbox: halo 1 and 2, star wars,fable,jade empire,oddworld,star wars knights of the old republic.

the way we interact with games in the 7th generation has completely changed because the wii and ds are interactive and also the online modes for each console make it much better playing against real people online and also downloadable music movies and also games and demos now on the xbox 360 and ps3 it has got much better over the years, the internet has a big inpact on the games consoles in this generation because it allows you to play against other people online. each of the consoles has a brilliant spec/power that has a very high graphic standard which is what makes the game that bit better aswell.

Ps3-pros- brilliant graphics, good exclusives,free online , cons- not that good online,bluray failure

xbox 360, pros- brilliant graphics,really good online, good exclusives, watch tv on it now, download movies etc, cons- red ring of death ,headsets break too easy,unrealiable

Wii- Pros - family console, fun,brilliant interactivity,good exclusives,online,very reliable doesnt break often and theres something for everyone. cons -online is hard to set up and you cant talk to people on it

Psp- pros- portable, great graphics ps2 standard handheld,good exclusives, cons- memory card can fail and lose all data

Ds- Pros- good exclusives,good interactivity,portable, cons- bad graphics.

Ps2- pros- brilliant graphics at the time of release, loads of brilliant exclusives,has online, reliable, cons- slimline ps2 not as reliable as original.

Xbox- pros- brilliant graphics better than ps2 at the time, great exclusives including halo and fable 2 of the best games out there at the time, good online,very reliable

5th Generation

There are a few consoles in the 5th generation there are sony playstation, nintendo 64,sega saturn and atari they were all very differant consoles and had there own selling points with differant main games they could handle a lot of graphic data and made 3d games, clever marketing helped affect the success of the playstation, the biggest games of the 5th generation were super mario64,gran turismo,final fantasy 7,mario kart64,tomb raider 2,goldeneye,zelda orcarina of time,metal gear solid,sonic,crash bandicoot,super smash bros and many more

Rise of Nintendo

the nintendo single handely resurected the gaming industry by bringing out there first console the NES (ninte and ndo entertainment system) and they marketed it as a toy instead of as a computer it was the best selling games console of its time it set the standard in concoles in everything from games design to controller layout they released this console because of there success with the arcade games they had and decided to release a cartrige based console it became the best selling games console in japan by the end of 1984 (it was released 1983 july 15th)this was the rise of nintendo and the games industry if it wasnt for the NES we would probably not have the games we play today.

The Video Game crash of 1983

The main reason this happened was because of E.t the game that came out it was so bad people literally threw it in the bin and bad games kept coming out and people became uninterested in games alltogether this is mainly why the video game market completely crashed

16 Bit

Two Consoles came into the gaming industry called the Sega Megadrive and the SNES these consoles were both 16 bit consoles, 16 bit is like small and can only handle up to 64K of ram, these consoles were great graphics for there time though and they had brilliant main characters and main games that attract people for instance the sega megadrives main game and characters was sonic and the SNES's was mario these where what made the consoles that much better along with other very good games for the consoles. they changed gaming with the better graphics for the time and the controls for sega megadrive had 3 button controllers but the SNES has 6 button controller which gives you more gameplay function, easier gameplay and ,more options of moves like fighting games you can kick and punch and do combos which makes it much better also the graphics were arcade standard which was a big selling point. the sega megadrive had no saves and the SNES had saves so the SNES was a step upward from the sega megadrive in a few ways but they all had there unique ways that made them so good. there are 914 games released on the sega megadrive the main ones that made it sell was sonic, streets of rage,altered beast,golden axe to name a few then for the SNES there is mario/mario kart, donkey kong,kirby,zelda,paperboy,street fighter 2 and mortal kombat also to name a few but these are the main games for each console which everyone loved and made it a good selling point for each consoles.

history of video games
